Home Depot Rating: NC-17

I just got back from a trip to Home Depot and JoAnn's with the girls. I needed to return the carpet cleaner and pick up some supplies so we had an impromptu field trip. It went well and the girls are currently singing and eating a suckers we picked up as a treat.

BUT...

While we were in line at Home Depot waiting to check in the rented carpet cleaner, we stood behind two ladies who chatted loudly about the idiots in their school district. I mention what they were loudly discussing because it illustrates that they are at least aware that children exist.

So we're waiting and the girls were standing very patiently. The women get up to the counter, have some sort of mid-life crisis and start sexually harassing everything in sight! They made suggestive comments about how much fun they will have with the wall paper remover, thinly veiled innuendo regarding the perforator and followed with blatant sexual references that were making the poor clerk blush (he was a 50-something old dude...not easy to make blush).

All the while Sydney and Scout are dancing and started singing louder and louder. They approached inappropriately loud about the time the women started threatening to get undressed so I gave them a smile and let them go for it. Sing away ladies, sing away!

In lighter, not so illicit news, Scout and Sydney were discussing their names. Scout can't remember what her middle name is but it's usually only very vaguely related to her real middle name: Eleanor. So after much discussion they decided what their names would be Scout Ella Normal Gomm and Sydney Joy Fisher Ella Normal Gomm. I can't wait till they're 17 and start their band...the Ella Normals.

Catch Up Post

Well last week I didn't get much posted since I lost my mind.

We ended up making "What's In My Pocket" books, wearing jammies on Wednesday, making Pentagon Houses, and playing around. Ash Lee and Mandy visited us for Circle Time one day so we got to sing all of our songs and play Puppy Puppy Where's Your Bone with them.

The craft I thought was the cutest was our Frog "Jumpers" we made using tracings of the girls' hands. I found a book for 10 bucks that showed how to use kids' hands to make fun pictures. Of course, I'm too cheap for that so I just looked through, picked up some ideas and have been improvising since. The idea to make frog shaped tracings was in the book but I decided to combine it with another idea to make the frogs jump. We added some googly eyes because as Troy says, "googly eyes make everything better."

Basically, it was a crazy week for me personally but we still managed to have some fun moments. My favorite was when Scout asked me if Jesus was a zombie.
