Sydney got a fun surprise this morning when Andrea Pauley picked her up for a special birthday outing
After a fantastic lunch of chicken nuggets and mac & cheese, we read a bunch of books and soon we'll be decorating the cupcakes (and eating them of course).
That all sounds so idyllic. Let me tell you how it really went down.
Our new song was Hap Palmer's "Rhythm on Parade: Fast & Slow." We've done good ole Hap before and he's usually pretty entertaining (Bean Bag Shake...2 thumbs up). This song started out really slow. I had panic-inducing images of the Hap Palmer Death March 12 inch mix but then...just when I was about to go *accidentally* skip the song, it sped up into this hilariously fast section. The girls went bananas...but in a good way. We twitched and jiggled and flailed until it switched back into the floaty airy slow section. Then fast, slow and one more fast section and we were sweaty, jazzed and ready to do it again. We did it twice more until we were absolutely covered in sweat and ready to fall over. And yes, I did it too. And no, I will NOT video tape that for you to submit to America's Funniest Home Videos.
While I was cooking up lunch the girls were sitting at the table cheering me on (aka begging for me to hurry and asking if they could eat cupcakes instead) when suddenly Ash Lee started to cry saying her tummy was hurting. I rushed her into the bathroom hoping that if something came out of one of the ends the pain might stop. No such luck. We did end up sitting in the bathroom and reading a bunch of stories however. Scout and Sydney sat in the hall while I sat on the stool and read to a 360 degree audience one of which was trying to get the poop to come out. :-( We read Brown Bear Brown Bear, Little Pea (twice), Wide-Mouthed Frog and The Foot Book. We wanted to read Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus but after having read it a gajillion times I finally had to return it to the library. Ultimately the experience reminded me of the episode of Seinfeld where George takes the book into the bookstore bathroom. Kinda gross, kinda funny.
That's all for now...I hope.
